GULAG is a notorious term which means the suppression existing in the Soviet Union at Stalin's regime. This place became very popular after the publication of the novel "Archipelago GULAG" by Alexander Solzhenitsyn. "Perm-36" is the only museum of bloody political repressions of the 1930s in Russia. The museum is situated on the territory of the former camp of GULAG system. "Perm - 36" differed from the other camps for its sever regime. Nowadays, you can see the barracks of Stalin type, the chambers, the penal insulator, the watch, the headquarters , the sector of special regime. The complex system of protection is being restored now. In 2004 experts of the UNESCO referred the museum to the number of the most significant monuments in the world. The annual International Festival and the "Pilorama" Forum are held in memory of victims of political repressions as a caution for the future generations.
