Belaya Gora (White Mountain) Monastery is the biggest cathedral in the Urals, is situated 120 km from Perm and 80 km from Kungur. Ever since ancient times, the monastery was a place for salvation and pray. In the 18th century monastic cells of the monastery served as a shelter for persecuted Old Believers (Old Believers became separated from the official Russian Orthodox Church). Especially in winter months, Belaya Gora looks unusually beautiful. From the elevation, one has a 360 degree view over the typical vast forest landscape of the Urals. The history of Belogorsky Monastery before and after the Revolution of 1917 is covered by mystery. Stories about miraculous healing with the help of icons, 'angel chorus singing' in the Monastery building ruined by the Bolsheviks. There are also numerous testimonies about obtained monks' treasures. Built, ruined, and reconstructed: Belogorsky Monastery is a symbol of revival not only of Perm culture, but also of Russia. Visitors of Belogorsky Monastery may try monks simple food at a refectory and also drink pure water from a blessed underground spring.
