During the second world war, Karol Wojtyła was among the first seminarians admitted to the clandestine studies held at the time in the Palace of Kraków Bishops. In 1945, he became a student of the Seminary, and less than a decade later a teacher there, lecturing in Catholic social ethics. In 1991, by now pope, John Paul II visited his former university.
