The charming Valente family runs this restaurant in one of Lecce's most stately villas, built of chiseled stone between 1550 and 1600. There are four dining rooms (one available only for private parties) and a flower-strewn terrace overlooking a historic neighborhood near Piazza Mazzini. The menu items are steeped in local culinary traditions and emphasize a regional tubular pasta called strozzapreti (a bit smaller than penne), served with lobster sauce. Other specialties are well-seasoned filet steak with black truffles, and fresh fish that is baked in a salt crust to seal in the moisture.
