The estate of Richard B. Mellon was converted into the 10.5-acre Mellon Park. The park has some beautiful formal gardens that are open to the public. There is also a large playground, basketball courts, tennis courts and several ball fields. The Scaife house sits on the edge of the park and is part of the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, and summer concerts are held on the house's lawn each year.
