Kalakkad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve  (KMTR), located in the  Southern Western Ghats  in  Tirunelveli District  and  Kanyakumari District  in the  South Indian  state of  Tamil Nadu , is the second-largest protected area in Tamil Nadu State (behind only  Sathyamangalam Wildlife Sanctuary  in  Erode ).
