With a thatched roof and mustard-colored exterior, this popular pub and restaurant sits on the Ballina side of the Shannon, looking out at the river. Its two informal rooms have open fireplaces, stone floors, and beamed ceilings, and you sit on sugan chairs (traditional wood chairs with twisted straw rope seats). There's picnic-table seating outside in good weather. The bar-food menu includes traditional dishes such as bacon and cabbage, and Irish stew, while the restaurant focuses on local seafood -- lobster, salmon, sole, and monkfish -- simply prepared.
