Californians Christian and Claire opened this gourmet restaurant in August 2007 with the intention of bringing some contemporary American-style cuisine to a town that lacks stylish restaurants. They've succeeded with this small, modern bistro, which has a minimalist design, with an open kitchen at the back, hardwood furniture, and a cane ceiling. The menu includes dishes like a refreshing watermelon salad and a delicious tamarind pork chop. El Pozo is also a good stop off point for a late-night cocktail. The small, inviting bar up front serves the best martinis in town. The wine list is unusually good, with French champagne and Italian wines among others.
