A charmingly old-fashioned shop, Cannolive, 16-20 rue Vénizelos (04-93-39-08-19), is owned by the Raynaud family, who founded the place in 1880. It sells Provençal olives and their by-products-purées (tapenades) that connoisseurs refer to as "Provençal caviar," black "olives de Nice," and green "olives de Provence," as well as three grades of olive oil from several regional producers. Oils and food products are dispensed from no. 16, but gift items (fabrics, porcelain, and Provençal souvenirs) are sold next door. Note: Of the many streets that will attract you with rustic and authentic Provençal allure, the most appealing, with the greatest number of old-fashioned emporiums selling wine, olives, herbs, and oils, is the rue Meynadier.
