The church of Giverny, fully called the Église Sainte-Radegonde de Giverny, was built mostly during the 15th and 16th Centuries although the apse and sculpted brackets on the exterior (called modillons) date back to the 11th Century. Religious sculpture within the church dates as far back as the 13th Century. It is best known today, however, because this was the church where Monet was married, where his family attended Mass each Sunday, and finally where he was buried in December of 1926. Just behind the church, those wishing to pay their respects may visit his tomb.
